On Feb. 9, ALERT, Grande Prairie’s organized crime and gang team, seized the firearms, which were “unlawfully” possessed, fentanyl and methamphetamine, they said in a Thursday release.
RCMP teams from Grande Cache, Hinton and Grande Prairie assisted with the investigation resulting in the arrests. The investigation began in November 2021.
“I am grateful for the work and dedication the members of ALERT, and other assisting units, put into this investigation these last few months,” said Sgt. Gord Hughes, with Grande Cache RCMP.
“This has made a significant and positive impact in our community by removing illicit drugs from our streets.”
ALERT said Elijah Hallock, 31, has been arrested and charged with drug trafficking, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime, while Darwin Hallock, 26, is facing charges of drug trafficking and unsafe storage of a firearm.
Anyone who suspects drug or gang activity in their community can call local police or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
